Housing & Development · Nevada County
Hospitality House, a Nevada County nonprofit, acquired three single-family homes using a state grant of just under $3 million administered by the county through the Department of Health Care Services. The properties include a home on Silva Avenue near Pioneer Park in Nevada City and two homes on Bank Street and Lidster Avenue in Grass Valley, providing 20 supportive housing beds. Five women aged 56 to 80 will occupy the Nevada City house, which is currently being renovated including exterior repainting and deck replacement. The acquisition was permitted by-right under R1 residential zoning, requiring no special use permit or city council vote. A September 30 neighbor meeting addressed concerns about property values, road use, and a false rumor that residents were recently released from prison; Hospitality House confirmed none of the three properties serve ARGP reentry participants.
