Man Sentenced to 22 Years in Yuba County Homicide
A Yuba Superior Court judge on Monday sentenced Ricky Singh Lasher, 41, to 22 years in prison for the April 2023 death of 27-year-old Amery Sweany, whose body was found along Simpson Lane near Linda in Marysville. Lasher pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon and sexual battery; first-degree murder and other charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement. The sentencing followed a postponed September hearing after Lasher briefly sought to withdraw his plea before dropping the motion.
