Foothills Regional Comprehensive Transportation Plan Covers McDowell, Polk, Rutherford Counties

The N.C. Department of Transportation's Transportation Planning Division, the Foothills RPO (formerly Isothermal RPO), and the municipalities of McDowell, Polk, and Rutherford Counties have begun a Comprehensive Transportation Plan study for the Foothills Region. The plan evaluates highway, public transportation, and bicycle/pedestrian needs to support anticipated growth, with airports and rail also considered. The CTP is updated approximately every ten years, and residents can review the full plan online via a link provided by the Town of Lake Lure.
