Lodi Council to Vote on Mayoral Rotation, Park Grants at 7 p.m. Meeting Wed., Oct. 21
The Lodi City Council will consider amendments establishing a district-based rotation system for selecting the mayor and vice mayor, replacing decades of tradition in which outgoing mayors nominated successors. Under the proposed schedule beginning in 2027, District 5 representative Mikey Hothi would become mayor, with subsequent years rotating through districts one through four. The council will also consider state grant applications totaling approximately $14.1 million for improvements at Lawrence, Hale, and Blakely parks, including new community buildings, inclusive playgrounds, a skate park, and aquatic facility upgrades. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Carnegie Forum, 315 W. Pine St., and will be livestreamed on the city's YouTube channel.
