SUMICA Closed Tuesday, Oct. 13 for 160-Acre Prescribed Burn
Polk County Parks and Natural Resources staff will conduct a 160-acre prescribed burn at SUMICA (14020 State Highway 60 E., Lake Wales) on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, for land management purposes. The site will be closed to the public that day and is expected to reopen the following day. Residents in the surrounding area may notice smoke, though staff schedule burns when wind and weather conditions minimize impacts. All prescribed burns are subject to postponement or cancellation due to weather.
