Federal Agents Door-Knock Across Six States Over Possible Noncitizen Voters Ahead of Midterms
Homeland Security Investigations agents conducted armed door-to-door visits in at least six states—California, Georgia, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wisconsin—to investigate possible noncitizen voter registration ahead of midterm elections. The Justice Department announced Monday that HSI agents in California arrested more than 20 people, all green card holders, on allegations they had illegally registered or cast a vote. A former HSI agent with 23 years of service called the operation a significant departure from traditional law enforcement activities. Civil rights attorneys have filed suit alleging the visits are designed to intimidate lawful voters, while DHS maintains it is investigating election fraud and ensuring only citizens elect American leaders.
