Family Sues Jackson Senior Living Facility Over Dementia Care Dispute
The sons of Marjorie Tingley, an 85-year-old dementia patient who died in January 2025, have filed a lawsuit against Vista Grande Villa (now Otterbein Jackson SeniorLife) in Jackson, Michigan. The family alleges the facility retaliated against their refusal to administer antipsychotic medications by repeatedly calling emergency services and issuing a 30-day eviction notice. While a judge dismissed the negligence claim, a trial is scheduled for early next year regarding emotional distress and wrongful eviction allegations. The facility denies wrongdoing, stating it sought hospitalization due to safety concerns and the family's refusal of on-site treatment.
