Orange County Commissioners Concerned Income Tax Amendment May Limit Services
The Orange County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution on Oct. 13 expressing concern that a proposed state constitutional amendment capping personal income tax rates could restrict funding for essential local services. The amendment, which appears on ballots through Election Day on Nov. 3, would lower the maximum permitted rate from 7 percent to 3.5 percent. County officials warn that reduced state revenue could force cuts to discretionary services such as libraries, senior services, and public transit, while increasing pressure on local budgets to cover mandated costs like education and emergency services.
