Students Safe After False Shooting Report at Franklinton High School Monday
All students and staff at Franklinton High School in Franklin County, N.C., are safe following reports of a possible active shooter Monday morning, according to Franklin County Sheriff Kevin White. The school was placed on lockdown, and an initial sweep found no threats; the sheriff said investigators believe the initial report was false. Law enforcement agencies from across the county and state, including the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, responded to the scene. Parents were notified of dismissal procedures, and Franklin County Emergency Management asked the public to avoid the high school until further notice while reunification proceeded.
