Student Hospitalized with Life-Threatening Injuries After Bus Stop Crash on Oct. 13
A student was struck by a vehicle around 7:25 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, while walking to a bus stop on Briar Hill Road on Lexington's east side and was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, according to Lexington police. Fayette County Public Schools confirmed the student was en route to a bus stop; police said the bus did not have its stop arm extended at the time of the crash. No criminal charges are expected at this time as the investigation continues. The incident marks the second time this school year a student was hit at a bus stop in central Kentucky, prompting Rep. Chad Aull to advocate for broader use of House Bill 7, which raises fines for failing to stop when a bus stop arm is deployed and permits school-district camera installations.
