Highway 37 Full Closure Begins 10 p.m. Friday Through 5 a.m. Monday

Caltrans will fully close State Route 37 in both directions between Mare Island and Sears Point for 55 hours, beginning at 10 p.m. Friday and ending at 5 a.m. Monday, as part of an emergency maintenance repair project. The closure affects an 11-mile stretch from Walnut Avenue at Mare Island to Sears Point, requiring drivers to take a roughly 40-mile detour. Caltrans spokesperson Bart Ney said the repairs are needed because high water levels over the summer damaged the roadway near Vallejo, and crews plan to raise part of the road by a couple of feet. A planned westbound preparatory closure originally set for Wednesday night was postponed to Thursday night due to rainy weather.
