Fairfield Council to Consider $547 Fire Lift-Assistance Fee Tuesday, Oct. 20
Fairfield City Council members will consider a resolution at their Tuesday meeting establishing a $547 non-emergency lift assistance fee for licensed care facilities whose staff request fire department help moving non-injured residents. The fee would be assessed to facility owners or operators—not individuals or families—and includes waiver and appeal procedures. No fee applies when an injury, medical condition, or need for emergency evaluation exists, or when responders are uncertain whether the incident is non-emergency. The Fairfield Fire Department estimates the fee will generate more than $30,000 annually. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Harry T. Price Memorial Council Chamber, 1000 Webster St.
