El-Sayed, Stevens to Make Joint Campaign Appearance in Detroit Sunday
Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed and former primary rival Rep. Haley Stevens will make their first joint public appearance since the Aug. 4 primary at a get-out-the-vote event at a Detroit church on Sunday, joined by South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn. The appearance follows weeks of Democratic infighting after El-Sayed narrowly defeated Stevens, including Stevens' fiancé publicly stating he would vote for Republican Mike Rogers. Both candidates are focusing outreach on Black voters in Wayne County, where Stevens won the primary, while Rogers appeared with Sen. Ted Cruz at a Republican Jewish Coalition event in Birmingham, Michigan.
