Super El Niño Won't End Cody's Severe Drought Conditions
A NOAA winter forecast anticipates warmer and drier-than-average conditions for the northern Mountain West, including Cody, WY. National Weather Service Riverton meteorologist Joshua Rowe said a strong El Niño will keep jet streams split, resulting in fewer weather systems reaching Wyoming and below-normal snow events this winter. The federal drought monitor indicates Cody's severe drought conditions will remain essentially unchanged over the next three months, while NOAA expects drought to develop or worsen throughout the northern Rockies.
