Two More Teens Arrested in Sept. Charlotte Shooting That Killed 4-Year-Old
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police announced Oct. 26 that two additional 17-year-olds, Khamari Gregory Jeffries and Rodney Sowell Jr., were arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy in the Sept. 20 shooting death of 4-year-old Caleb Flax. Police say seven armed teens left an Airbnb party in two stolen vehicles, drove seven miles to the 900 block of Grassy Patch Lane, and fired at least 84 shots into four occupied homes and three parked vehicles, killing Caleb and wounding a woman in another home. Officials say the shooting was retaliation for a similar incident on Sept. 19 on Silver Birch Drive, where one suspect lives. All seven teens face charges including murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, and multiple counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling; Terrance Jackson, 22, of Charlotte, was charged as an accessory after the fact.
