Oklahoma City Man Charged With Mailing Threatening Letters to Officials
Robin Martin, 67, of Oklahoma City was arrested Monday and charged with conveying a hoax and mailing threatening communications after sending hundreds of letters containing white powder to election officials, members of Congress, pollsters, news media, and federal law enforcement ahead of the 2024 and 2026 elections. The powders tested as nonhazardous yeast or flour, though not all letters have been fully analyzed, according to the FBI. Martin appeared Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Oklahoma City and was returned to jail pending a detention hearing scheduled for next week. Investigators linked more than 700 mailings this fall to the same sender, with video evidence placing his vehicle at Postal Service sites in Oklahoma City, Dallas, and San Antonio. The letters prompted evacuations of election offices in Louisiana and Oklahoma, and states from Idaho to Florida reported receiving or intercepting them.
