Imperial County Supervisors Appoint Daniel J. Rosenberg as Public Defender
The Imperial County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday formally appointed Daniel J. Rosenberg as the county's new Public Defender, replacing outgoing Public Defender Benjamin Salorio. Rosenberg, who served as Assistant Public Defender for four years, will oversee legal representation for residents facing criminal charges who cannot afford private counsel, as well as advocacy in child abuse and neglect cases, mental health proceedings, and conservatorship matters. The appointment follows the office achieving full staffing for the first time in more than ten years. Rosenberg identified recruitment and retention as top priorities, including plans to expand high school mock trial mentorship, collegiate panel engagements, and regional internship programs to build a local legal talent pipeline.
