Arvin Council Weighs Cannabis Storage Facility on South Derby Street
The Arvin City Council is considering a proposed site development permit and development agreement for a commercial cannabis storage and processing facility by Leef Arvin LLC at 818 South Derby Street. The project would convert an existing warehouse and cold storage facility into a cannabis operation, adding 12 large storage containers to the property. Consultant planner Isaiah Medina said the facility would create approximately 12 full-time jobs initially, plus around 16 seasonal part-time employees during harvest season. Cannabis stored in Arvin would be transported to Willits in Northern California for extraction into oils used by leading California cannabis brands. The proposal still requires a formal vote by council members before proceeding.
