East Potomac Golf Course to Close Nov. 15; Planning Commission Reviews Dec. 3
The Justice Department filed notice confirming that the National Park Service will close East Potomac Park south of Buckeye Drive, including the golf course, on November 15, 2026, per a presidential directive. The National Capital Planning Commission will review a rendering by designer Tom Fazio for a championship-level golf course at its December 3 meeting. A preliminary injunction issued October 26 by U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes temporarily bars removal of additional trees on the course while litigation by the DC Preservation League and two golfers proceeds. The National Links Trust, which currently operates the course, will cease operations there as of November 15 but will continue operating two other public golf courses.
