Trump Arch Planning Docs Omit Military Complex; NCPC Meeting Nov. 3
New Interior Department planning documents for President Trump's proposed 250-foot Triumphal Arch near Memorial Bridge do not mention the "military complex" he said in September it would host, including drone and ammunition storage and sniper positions. The National Park Service justified the arch's size by citing the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding, while an Interior Department spokesperson stated the design could accommodate national security functions. The documents are part of a National Capital Planning Commission meeting set for Nov. 3, two days after the midterm election. Opponents argue the structure is too large and would disrupt the view corridor between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. The project faces legal challenges alongside other Trump-era capital projects.
