Michigan Bureau Suspends Antrim County Clerk Over Voter-Roll Removals
Antrim County Clerk Victoria Bishop changed the status of at least 123 voters between April and July 2025 and sent postcards to at least 1,577 registered voters in mid-March 2026 warning their registrations could be canceled. The Michigan Bureau of Elections determined Bishop's actions failed to comply with state law and suspended her access to the state's Qualified Voter File. Affected voters have been reinstated and will be able to vote in the November midterm election. In Michigan, municipal clerks—not county clerks—maintain voter registration records.
